Training

Zoe has begun training for the Denny's olympics. They're not quite the same at 1o:00 AM on a weekend as they are at 2:00 AM on the night before a final exam, but Zoe shows promise nonetheless.

Ride the tiger

Zoe loved riding the tigers at Princeton, but her favorite part of the trip was something we couldn't photograph---she adored the Cotsen children's library inside Firestone. Here's a shot of the joint: http://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/File:Cotsen_Childrens_Library_Princeton.jpg

By the way, does anyone know if these tigers are named? I see here -- http://www.princeton.edu/pr/pub/ph/06/03.htm -- that they're male and female and were installed in '69, but I haven't found their names.

The Alma Mater

On the way back from Sesame Place, we stopped in Princeton.


The class of 2028 is already trembling in its collective shoes.



Here's Zoe in the arch in Walker Hall, right under the room where Daddy lived in 1985-1986.



Zoe wanted to go wading in the pool by the Woodrow Wilson building.

Walter Kirn descibed that sculpture in the pool as looking like someone took the turkey carcass (picked clean) on Thanksgiving, turned it on its side, and stuck it in the middle of the table.



By the bye, I was very impressed that when I bought Zoe a tiger at the U store, they checked "Van Gelder" in the system and found me immediately. ... even though I probably haven't used the store in 25 years. By contrast, Citibank had a CD of mine but couldn't even manage to get my name straight after I wrote to them twice.

Put out the fire

Of course Zoe rode the fire engine at Sesame Place.

Zoe went to Sesame Place on Saturday.

After the 25-minute ordeal finding parking, it was hard to find anyone grouchier than Daddy, but Zoe located this grouch:




Then she found her namesake:

Zoe went on a little vacation this weekend.

Her daddy's old camera died and he started using a new one.

As a result, we have lots of new photos to post in the coming days. Here's the first batch.

Elephant ride

When we went to the State Fair last month, Aunt Leslie took some pictures of Zoe and her father riding on the back of an elephant named Beulah.

The elephant is *not* the one in the green t-shirt.
